 In March of 2004 received a presidential invitation to read from his new book, Old Turtle and the Broken Truth at the White House. The occasion was the Annual White House Easter Egg Roll, held every year since 1878. The event attracts thousands of visitors each spring; children, moms, dads, storybook characters, and a select group of cildren's authors to read to the kids. A bonus for the authors- breakfast in the White House. Too many goodies and pastries to mention, and a chance to tour "The People's House", to gaze at the paintings, sculptures and furniture and antiques, and to soak up the atmosphere.
 All in all, a fine day, in spite of a little rain. A day that Doug and Kathy won't soon forget.
